Shara Puglisi Katsos  - Author

Shara Puglisi Katsos has loved dogs as long as she can remember. Her first dog- a beagle, named Cocoa was a gift from her parents when she was ten years old. Needless to say, she loved Cocoa and all dogs of various breeds that she has been fortunate to spend time with throughout her life.
She is an avid believer that all animals are a gift and should be treated with love and respect. She believes, dogs each have their own personalities and sense of humor, which she hopes is conveyed to the reader in her stories.
Shara hopes to share her passion for animal rescue and inspire others to be an advocate for those that are not able to defend themselves from cruelty and despair. She believes that dogs are a tremendous resource for humans, which dogs have proven for years through their work leading the blind, assisting the deaf, building confidence for children with autism and easing the minds of those with Post Traumatic Stress Disorder, among others. She believes humans should return the favor and make high kill shelters illegal.
She has written the Doggie Investigation Gang, DIG™ – The Case of The Missing Canine, in an effort to raise funds for PAWS New England – All Breed Dog Rescue. All author and illustrator royalties from the purchase of the book will be donated to PAWS New England to assist in rescuing the dogs residing at Tipton County Animal Shelter, a high kill shelter located in Tipton TN.
Shara is grateful for all of her parents and her sister, Laurie. All of whom share her love for animals and rescue. She is thankful for her friend and illustrator, John for being willing to partner with her on a cause near and dear to her heart. She is thankful for her publisher, Charlotte Pierce for patiently leading her through the book industry while having so much fun along the way. And, she is especially thankful for her husband, Steve for being her life partner and co-foster parent to so many dogs and puppies.

John Bulens has enjoyed drawing & illustrating, as well as other artistic forms of creativity, since he was a child. He always looked forward to his art classes & assignments growing up. In his teenage years, John developed a love for comic books. It was their graphic illustrations as well as the creative stories that interested him. One of his prized art projects as a teenager was a graphic painting he had done of one of his favorite comic book characters.

John continued to work on his craft, but only as a hobby while attending college. While at school a friend, who was the Comic’s Editor at the time for their schools paper, convinced him to create a comic strip to run in it. After graduation he remembered the enjoyment he had working with his friend on the paper and went back to study the field of graphic design.

John has been freelancing on & off in graphic design and desktop layout work for a number of years now. When his friend Shara, asked him to help illustrate & layout the story that she had written, Doggie Investigation Gang, DIG™ – The Case of the Missing Canine, he was happy to be part of it. He admires the passion she has for animals & animal rescue, and her story illustrates that. She has shown him that the love of an animal can be one of many gateways to finding happiness.

John is appreciative of Shara for sharing her passion of animals with hm. He is truly in awe of her generosity and is happy he could contribute in this way. He also wants to thank his family and friends who constantly encouraged & supported him to follow his passions & dreams. If it was not for them he may not have continued his pursuit in the area of Graphic Arts.
